Dr Helena, Dr Carina and Dr Johan are a mother and sibling team and understand how to attend to their patients to ensure that they receive the best care possible. Their thoughtful and personalized approach means that they are fully committed to the health and well-being of their patients.
Dr Carina van der Linden completed her undergraduate dental studies at the University of Pretoria in 2005. Since graduating she attained a Masters Degree in the Science of Dentistry in Peadodontics from WITS, a Postgraduate Dental Diploma in Orthodontics from UWC and has her Primary qualification from the College of Medicine. She joined her mother, Dr Helena Pieterse, at Designer Smile in 2007.
Dr Carina is an accredited practitioner with the WITS Donald Gordan Hospital. Dr Carina is passionate about Orthodontics, Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry.
She has completed the internationally renowned Invisalign Clear Aligner Treatment course and is a certified Invisalign provider.
She mentored with Dr Ziegfried Weber and competed his Practical Orthodontic Academy of Mentorship program.
Paediatric dentistry is one of Dr Carina’s first loves and she absolutely loves treating children and strives to make their dental experience a happy one!
In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors either mountain biking, golfing, trail running or horse riding.
She is very fond of travelling, socializing with family and friends and dining out.
Dr Helena qualified from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1979. Returning from private practice in London she started a practice in Johannesburg and has been an accredited dentist at the WITS Donald Gordon Medical Centre for many years. In 1989 she obtained a Masters degree in the Science of Dentistry from WITS. In 2016 Dr Helena relocated to Hyde Park to join her daughter Dr Suzanne van der Linden.
Dr Helena is married to Dr Wynand van der Linden a Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeon who practices out of Sunninghill Hospital. They collaborate on many surgical cases, especially the provision of dental implants for failing, faulty or missing teeth.
Her greatest satisfaction is the opportunity of sharing her dental knowledge and experience with her four children Dr Suzanne, Dr Carina, Dr Helena and Dr Johan who all practice in Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre.
Over the years Dr Helena has nurtured a family orientated dental practice with emphasis on prevention. The amaizing advances In Aesthetic Dentistry and dental implants and her creative skills have allowed her to build a foundation for a Designer Smile. Her philosophy is that oral health promotes general health.
Dr Helena enjoys cooking, fishing, golf and to spend time with her grandchildren.
Dr Johan van der Linden is passionate about aesthetic and digital dentistry, with a keen interest in oral surgery and implantology.
He has been trained to do Clear aligner orthodontic treatment, implant placement and is currently completing his Master’s degree in dentistry.
Children are very welcome.
Dr Johan enjoys playing water polo and golf and enjoys building Lego in his spare time.
